SRS Audio Sandbox is audio enhancement software for the PC that lets you render, enhance and otherwise manipulate stereo and surround sound. It gives you access to all of the sounds playing on your computer, so you can adjust music and game audio from other sources and even multiple sources at the same time.

The program also supports virtual surround sound, which lets you enjoy fuller and enhanced sound even from a pair of basic speakers. If you’re gaming with headphones, for instance, you can achieve effects similar to what hardware mix-amps can accomplish for you.

SRS Audio Sandbox features a diverse equalizer with numerous options, and if you’re advanced user, you can really dial in your listening experience. Even save and load profiles on the fly. You don’t have to be an advanced user, however. The program includes a number of effective presets that you can simply turn on and enjoy. There are presets to increase bass in songs and to enhance the environmental audio experience in 3D games.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of SRS Audio Sandbox is that it’s able to achieve a lot without the need for high-end sound equipment. This is not a professional solution, but it can use your CPU, sound card, video card and other components to great effect to achieve near-professional quality, and that’s pretty neat. It also boasts a very user-friendly interface that will ease you in but is also customizable enough to grow with you as you become a more advanced user.

Note that this is a trial version of SRS Audio Sandbox. It may be time-limited and certainly lacks features and options that the full version has. It’s also worth noting that this version only supports XP and earlier Windows versions. A newer edition offers support for Windows 7 and beyond. Unfortunately, you can’t update to it from this trial and may be better off experiencing that trial instead.
